Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREADCOMPANY “PURITAN” MERCERIZEDCROCHET AND KNITTING COTTON
97 yds. White.
“STAR” PEARL COTTON, SIZE 5
1 60-yd. Ball Green.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7 (1.65mm).

I’d use Aunt Lydia’s size 10 crochet cotton.

FRONT SECTION. With Green, ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc) and work 11 more dc in ring, join.
2nd Row—Ch 3, 4 dc in same space, sc in next dc, * 5 dc in next dc, sc in next dc, repeat from * all around, join, break thread.
3rd Row—Attach White in sc between petals, ch 3, 4 dc in same space, sc in center st of next petal, * 5 dc in sc between next 2 petals, sc in center st of next petal, repeat from * all around, join.
4th Row—1 dc in each dc and 5 dc in each sc, join.
5th Row—With Green, 1 sc in each dc, join.
6th Row—With White, 1 dc in each st increasing 1 dc in every 3rd st, (80 dc) join each row.
In the following rows the thread iscarried underneath. When changing Color alwayscomplete the last half of st with next color.
7th Row—With White, ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 6 dc, with Green, puff st in next st (puff st: thread over needle, insert in st and pull loop up the length of a dc, * thread over needle, insert in same st and pull loop up same length, repeat from * twice, thread over and pull through all loops on needle at one time but one, thread over and pull through 2 loops) * with White, 1 dc in each of the next 7 dc, with Green, puff st in next st, repeat from * all around.
8th Row—With Green, puff st in same space, * with White, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, with Green, 1 puff st in each of the next 3 sts, repeat from * all around ending row with 2 puff sts in Green.
9th Row—With Green, puff st in puff st, puff st in next dc, * with White, 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, with Green, 1 puff st in each of the next 5 sts, repeat from * all around ending row with Green, 1 puff st in last dc, 1 puff st in each of the next 2 puff sts.
10th Row—With Green, puff st in next puff st, * with White, 1 dc in next puff st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, 1 dc in next puff st, with Green, 1 puff st in each of the next 3 puff sts, repeat from * all around ending row with 2 puff sts in Green.
11th Row—With White, ch 3, dc in same space, * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * twice, with Green, puff st in next puff st, ** with White, 2 dc in next puff st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, repeat from *, 2 dc in next puff st, with Green, puff st in next puff st, re­peat from ** all around.
12th Row—With White, 1 dc in each dc and 3 dc in each puff st.
13th Row—With Green, 1 sc in each dc increasing 1 sc in every 15th st, break thread.
BACK SECTION. Work first 6 rows same as front section.
7th Row—With White, 1 dc in each dc.
8th Row—Increase in every 4th st.
9th Row—Increase in every 10th st.
10th Row—Increase in every 5th st.
11th Row—Increase in every 6th st.
12th Row—Increase in every 7th st.
13th Row—With Green, 1 sc in each dc increasing 4 sts evenly spaced in row.
Crochet the 2 sections together with Green, * 1 sc in each of the next 6 sc, ch 2, dc in same space, ch 3, sl st in top of last dc for picot, dc in same space, ch 2, sl st in same space, repeat from * all around, working a loop after last 6 sc, (loop: ch 15, turn, sl st in same space, ch 1, turn and work 26 sc over ch.)

Materials: J. & P. Coatscrochet Cord, 1 ball each of color 70 Blue Jewel and color 9 Yellow. I’d use Aunt Lydia’s size 10 crochet cotton

 Steel crochet hook No. 2 (2.25mm).

Use thread double throughout.

With 2 strands of Blue Jewel, ch 7. Join with sl st to form ring. 

1st rnd: Make 16 sc in ring. 

2nd rnd: * Ch 2, sc in each of next 2 sc, repeat from * 7 more times (8 eyelet divisions and 8 sc sections). 

3rd rnd: Ch 2, skip ch-2 and 1st sc of next sc section, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next ch-2, * ch 2, skip 1st sc of next sc section, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next ch-2, repeat from * 6 more times, ending rnd with sc in beginning ch-2.

4th rnd: * Ch 2, skip 1st sc of next sc section, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next ch-2, repeat from * around. 

5th rnd: Attach Yellow, * ch 2, skip 1st sc of next sc section, sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next ch-2, repeat from * around. 

6th and 7th rnds: Work thus, increasing 1 sc in each sc section for every rnd. When the 7th rnd iscompleted break thread.
