            I’d use one strand of size 10 crochet cotton worked with one strand of coats metallic sewing thread. A few colors are still available on Amazon.

            Steel Crochet Hook No. 1 (2.75 mm)

            Round Plastic Fillable Ornament 2.5 inch (63.5 mm) Stitches used in US terms

            Ch/ch chain

            Sc/sc single crochet

            Dc/dc double crochet Sl st/sl st Slip stitch

            Pattern in US terms.

            Chain 18 or enough to go around the neck of the ornament. Join with sl st to make a ring.

            Row 1 Ch 4, dc, *ch 1, dc* 14 times. Ch 1, join with sl st. 16 loops Row 2 Sl st into first ch1, ch 5, dc in next ch 1, * ch 2, dc in next ch 1*

            14 times. Ch 2, sl st in 3rd st of ch 5 to join.

            Row 3 Sl st into ch 2 space, ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same space. *skip next space, Ch 1, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next space* around. Ch 3, skip next space, join with sl st.

            Row 4 Sl st into ch 2 space, ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same space. *ch 2, skip  next ch2 space, 2dc,, ch 2, 2dc in next space *around. Ch 2 skip next space, join with sl st.

            Row 5 Sl st into ch 2 space, ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same space. *ch 4, skip  next ch2 space, 2dc,, ch 2, 2dc in next space *around. Ch 4, skip next space, join with sl st.

            Row 6 repeat row 5.

            Row 7 sl st into ch2 space, *ch 6, sl st into 3 rd stitch from needle for picot, ch 3, sc in next space* around. End with ch 3, sc in next space. Ch 3, join with sl st.

            Dangle strings of beads from each picot around.
