Ch/ch              chain

Sc/sc                single crochet

Hdc/hdc          half double crochet

Join                 sl st into beginning st

Beret patterns in US terms

From Outside in.

Row 1. Ch 25 join to form a loop

Row 2. Ch 2, 25 hdc in loop

Row 3. Ch 2, 2 hdc in each hdc (50 hdc)

Working in back of stitch,

Row 4. Ch 2, hdc,  (2 hdc tog, hdc) around, join

Working through whole stitch

Row 5. Ch 2, hdc,  (2 hdc tog, hdc) around, join

Row 6. Ch 2, hdc,  (2 hdc tog, hdc) around, join

Row 7. Ch 2, hdc,  (2 hdc tog, hdc) around, join

Row 8. Ch 2, hdc 2 tog around. Join

Row 9. Pull up enough thread to close hole, cut thread. Weave through stitches around hole, pull tight and fasten off.

Attach thread anyplace on outside edge.

Row 10. Ch 1 and sc around to finish off.

Second Way.

From center out.

Row 1. Ch 5, join.

Row 2, Ch 2, 5 hdc in ring, join.

Row 3. Ch 2, 2 hdc around. Join. (10 stitches)

Row 4. Ch 2, 2 hdc around. Join. (20 stitches)

Row 5. Ch 2, (2 hdc in next stitch, hdc) around. Join. (30 stitches)

Row 6. Ch 2, (2 hdc in next stitch, hdc) around. Join. (45 stitches)

Working back of stitch only.

Row 7. Ch 2, hdc, (2 hdc tog, hdc) around. Join. (30 stitches)

Row 8. Ch 2, hdc around. Join. (30 stitches)

Cut thread. Weave in ends.
