Steel Crochet Hook No. 1 (2.35 mm)
Stitches used in US terms
Ch/ch chain
Sc/sc single crochet
Dc/dc double crochet
Sl st/sl st Slip stitch
Pattern in US terms.
Front of penny cover.
Ch 9. Join with sl st to make a ring.
1st round: Ch 1, make 18 sc in ring; join with a sl st.
2nd round: Ch 3, * skip 1 sc, 1 dc in next st, ch 2, repeat from * around, ending with a sl st in top of starting ch 3.
3rd round: Ch 1, * 3 sc in ch-2 space, 1 sc in top of dc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st.
Back of penny cover.
Ch 9. Join with sl st to make a ring.
1st round: Ch 3, 17 dc in ring; join with a sl st.
2nd round: Ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in each dc around. Join with sl st. Cut thread.
Place a penny between the two pieces and sew around the edge with matching thread. Finish all loose threads.
